I'm writing to ask you to oppose the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act and KOSA. Against the backdrop of child marriages in this country, which so many groups like NCOSE seem to want to ignore, censorship is an ineffective solution to an ongoing problem. It's shameful that my representatives and Congressmen are willing to censor media online and offline and hand more power to someone who will misuse it to silence disagreeable speech, while grooming, abuse, trafficking, harassment, stalking, scams, hacking and child marriages are still occurring. Kids are being kidnapped by ICE agents with no due process, trans, immigrant, disabled and LGBTQ youth are actively being trafficked because NCMEC and NCOSE are choosing to ignore them, people will go hungry because of cuts to essential programs, books are literally being burned and booksellers and librarians are being made criminals, and yet what's disgusting about all of this is that Congress has decided that things like anime, manga, books, novels, cartoons and fictional depictions of sex, along with adult films, are the things that are a threat to survivors of trafficking and abuse. I am writing to ask you to at least consider that most victims don't want censorship, but justice, resources, safe places to go and access to health care, not things like age verification laws which make it harder for them to reach those spaces where they can talk or express themselves. Oppose empty 'feel good' laws like KOSA and the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act. Thank you.
