More and more frequently, ICE has been cracking down on American communities in civilian clothes and with unmarked vans, wearing masks to hide their identities. These tactics aren’t necessary to keep the peace - they’re meant to sow fear and intimidation, and give agents further recourse to break the law and act in authoritarian and unconstitutional ways. And they have been acting as such: people have been whisked off the streets without any warning, due process, or opportunity for release. If you truly care about the safety of our communities? Unmask ICE agents and require them to carry identification. An authoritarian paramilitary force is just as dangerous as any criminal or cartel.
