Investigate Trump's Unlawful Interference with the Kennedy Center

To: Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, Rep. DelBene, Pres. Trump

From: A verified voter in Bothell, WA

September 16

You need to investigate and publicly condemn Trump's unlawful attempt to shut down the Kennedy Center over a naming dispute. A federal judge already ruled he had no authority to plaster his name on the building, and after six months of courts rejecting his appeals, he's now threatening to close the entire institution unless he gets his way. That's not a negotiating tactic — that's extortion of a public cultural institution. Rep. Joyce Beatty, who was on the call when Trump screamed at the Kennedy Center board, described it plainly: "he threw a tantrum. it was like an immature child." A sitting president threatening to shutter a national arts institution because a judge told him no is a constitutional crisis dressed up as a punchline. It shouldn't be treated as normal. Hold hearings. Demand accountability. The Kennedy Center belongs to the American people, not to whoever happens to be in the White House and wants their name on the marquee. Do your job and stop this.
