OPPOSE funding for additional detention beds in the 2026 DHS Appropriations Bill

To: Rep. Jayapal, Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell

From: A constituent in Seattle, WA

January 8

I urge you to OPPOSE funding for additional detention beds in the FY2026 DHS Appropriations Bill. The Trump administration’s detention policies have already torn families apart, locked people up without due process, and subjected them to horrific conditions. Now we have ICE agents murdering innocent civilians on the street. They must not be given more money! The 2025 Reconciliation Bill handed ICE $45 billion to fund the detention of hundreds of thousands of people over the next four years, which has made detention deadlier and conditions more horrific. Please withhold your support and vote against appropriating these funds.
