I am writing to ask Congress to conduct investigations to make clear to the American people how much we are funding for Trump’s extravagant renovations: demolition of the East Wing; construction of a massive new ballroom; the Lincoln bathroom renovation; the new Mar-a-Lago-style patio; the addition of lavish gold finishes and ornamentation throughout the White House; and the retrofitting of the $400 million luxury jet from Qatar.  These are striking images of wealth at a time when the same government is taking away food aid from millions of Americans. We deserve to have clarity about the cost of these extravagances.
