I am writing to you about the Cabinet picks being forwarded by the president-elect. I hope you realize that these are not acceptable. I will be extremely angry if Democrats spent the last six months telling us this election was our last bulwark against fascism and then cave a month later. A white supremacist at the DoD who will use the military against civilians, a sex offender AG, an HHS secretary anti-vaxxer -- these are extremely dangerous. There can be no comity about these, and you cannot allow Republicans to downplay just how beyond the pale this is. I realize you may not have the votes to completely stop them, but if you to not fight tooth and nail against something like this, what will you fight for? As a trans woman, I am under an existential threat -- as yesterday's move in the House shows, Republicans do not want us existing in public. If you cannot fight against these obviously unqualified and clearly corrupt, wrongheaded choices, what am I supposed to think you will do when they come for us? I implore you to take whatever action you can to stop these picks -- and make your resistance visible. We need to see our leaders fighting back. The most dangerous thing now for a lot of us is despair. Please show us you will stand up for us and do all you can to protect us by blocking these picks.
