I urge you to oppose border wall construction in and around Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park.
These lands should remain protected by laws like the National Historic Preservation Act and Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. The area is also part of the internationally recognized Greater Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve. Waiving those protections would permanently alter one of the most beautiful and unique places in Texas, a place that outdoor enthusiasts from across the state and country can enjoy.
Tourism to Big Bend National Park contributes $56.8 million (https://www.nps.gov/bibe/learn/news/2025-09-29-tourism-contributes-$56-8-million.htm) to the local economy—construction of a physical border through some of the most beloved sections of our public land would have a direct impact on that number and harm the local economy, and potentially put local business owners out of work.
Protecting Big Bend isn’t partisan — it’s about stewardship, conservation, and preserving Texas heritage for future generations. Please stand for our Texas public lands.
I ask you that you:
+ Demand that the CBP explore alternative border security solutions
+ Say NO to a physical border wall in our public lands
+ Respond with your position on the construction of a physical border wall through our public land and what specific actions you plan to take if this continues to move forward as planned.
