I am writing to urge you to take action regarding the Ethics Committee’s investigation into Congressman Matt Gaetz. Recently, Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), a senior member of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, called on Speaker Mike Johnson to release the Ethics Committee’s report on this matter, and I strongly support his position.
As you may know, Matt Gaetz has been the subject of serious investigations, including a Department of Justice inquiry, and he is currently under investigation by the House Ethics Committee. However, in light of Congressman Gaetz’s recent resignation from Congress, there is a real risk that he may evade accountability for his actions.
It is imperative that the Ethics Committee’s report be made public, regardless of Gaetz’s resignation, in order to ensure transparency, restore public trust in our government, and uphold the principles of accountability. This is not just about one individual, but about demonstrating that no one, regardless of position or party affiliation, is above the law or immune from scrutiny.
I urge you to stand with Congressman Connolly in calling for the immediate release of the Ethics Committee report. Congress must be held to the highest ethical standards, and the American people deserve to know the full details of any investigation into potential misconduct by their elected officials.
Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter. I look forward to hearing your position on this issue.
