I don’t know how we’re supposed to address all the poly-crises at once, I just know we have to. We have to put brakes on AI immediately. (And yes, we also have to immediately and substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions, stop the dismantling of the USA’s democracy, halt biodiversity loss; and more.) The NYTimes guest essay “This Is Really Bad” by Stephen Witt (author of “The Thinking Machine,” a history of the A.I. giant Nvidia) on Sept. 11, 2026 has helpful recommendations on how to regulate AI. Please do all you can and also let your constituents know how we can help.
