Support AB-2319 to Protect California Post-Production Jobs

To: Sen. Choi, Asm. Petrie-Norris, Gov. Newsom

From: A constituent in Irvine, CA

April 2

I'm asking you to support AB-2319 and vote yes when it comes before the Arts Committee. This bill would create a tax incentive to keep post-production work in California, where it belongs. Our state built the entertainment industry, but we're losing post-production jobs to other states that offer better incentives. Editors, sound designers, visual effects artists, and colorists are watching their work move to Georgia, New York, and Canada. AB-2319 would level the playing field and give California workers a fighting chance to compete for projects that should be staying here. Assemblymember Nick Schultz authored this bill because he understands what's at stake. These aren't just jobs—they're careers that support families and anchor entire communities around our production hubs. When post-production leaves, we lose the tax revenue, the local spending, and the next generation of talent that would have trained here. The tax incentive will pay for itself by keeping that economic activity in state.
