I was alarmed to read about a recent, secret meeting between minority leader Hakeem Jeffries and the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. It doesn’t *seem* appropriate, considering the many ways that Kushner has trampled on the law during both Trump administrations, but before jumping to conclusions, we need to hear more from Jeffries himself. What was discussed? What was promised? How does Jeffries intend to lead, assuming Democrats retake the House majority? I expect answers, and an enforceable commitment from Jeffries to accountability and oversight of the various malefactors in the White House. If he doesn’t support that, then he shouldn’t be Speaker.
