I am writing to demand immediate structural reform to the federal judiciary. Recent decisions like Trump v. Slaughter prove that lifetime appointments have turned the judiciary into an unaccountable branch that chooses partisan overreach over constitutional checks and balances.
We need a system of immediate accountability, similar to Canada’s Judicial Council, where an independent oversight body of citizens and experts can swiftly investigate and recommend the removal of corrupt or tyrannical judges.
I urge you to introduce and support legislation to establish an Independent Judicial Conduct Commission, enforce a strict and binding code of ethics, and institute 18-year term limits for all federal judges. The power of the judiciary comes from the consent of the governed, and we demand accountability now.
