End the Windfall Elimination Provision
To: Sen. Markey, Sen. Warren
From: A constituent in Greenfield, MA
October 18
I am writing to you today to ask you to support the bill to end the Windfall Elimination Provision for Social Security. I currently work at UMass Amherst, but I had a fairly late career change in my 40s to this position. Though I am thankful for the pension I am afforded from my state employment, I do not want to lose Social Security earnings from my time before working at UMass. Furthermore, in these challenging times, pensions can be risky for employees nationwide. If a municipal or state pension was unable to fully fund their workers' pensions, these workers' retirement security could be severely endangered by the WEP. Additionally, the MA state pension does not have a COLA like Social Security does. Please consider working to end the WEP. Thank you very much for your service to the nation.
