I strongly, strongly oppose the SAVE America Act and the Make Elections Great Again (MEGA) Act. Time and time again, extensive research has revealsled that VOTER FRAUD IS VERY RARE AND VOTER IMPERSONATION IS VIRTUALLY NON-EXISTANT! Even the conservative Heritage Foundation, which maintains an online database of election fraud cases in the United States reported that over the past 20 years voter fraud accounted for 0.00006 percent of total votes cast. Former President Trump's commission studying voter fraud came to the conclusion that voter fraud is so rare as to be inconsequential. The Brennan Center’s research says the same. The above bills purport to be a solution for a non-existent problem!!! In addition, the bills make it harder for eligible citizens to register and vote particularly women, military families, and poor folks because of the cost of obtaining documentation and for military families and those who move frequently; the problems of constantly having to show documentation in order to register to vote in various locals. Most Americans believe our democracy is stronger when eligible voters have equal access to the ballot box and when the voices of everyday Americans can be heard. Non-citizen voting is already illegal, and election officials already have systems in place to verify voter eligibility. These bills would not improve election security. Instead, they would restrict widely used voting methods and increase the risk that eligible voters are wrongly removed from voter rolls. The bills would also take election authority away from the states and give the executive branch vast new powers to interfere with elections, actually making our elections less safe, less free, and less fair. I strongly urge you to oppose the SAVE America Act and the MEGA Act and to focus on protecting the freedom to vote and ensuring that every eligible voter’s voice can be heard. Thank you.
