I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent revelations of human rights abuses in Israel, as reported by CNN on May 10, 2024. The detention of whistleblowers, such as those at Sde Teiman, raises serious questions about the treatment of individuals who seek to expose apparent violations of international law. Please note that without the enforcement of international law, it will become increasingly useless. I do not want to live in a world equivalent to the Wild West, nor do I wish this upon any other global citizen. As your constituent, I urge you to use your influence and voice to hold Israel accountable for any and all actions that may constitute war crimes. It is imperative that all parties involved in the conflict adhere to the principles of proportionality, distinction, and precaution in their military operations, in order to minimize civilian casualties and protect human rights. Based on evidence provided, this is not being done. Furthermore, I call upon you to support diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable and just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This includes working for a cessation of hostilities, the lifting of the blockade on Gaza, and the resumption of meaningful negotiations towards a two-state solution based on the pre-1967 borders. The international community, including the United States, has a responsibility to uphold human rights and promote peace and stability in the region. I trust that you will take appropriate action to address these urgent issues and ensure accountability for any violations of international law.
