I am writing you in regards to HR 9495. I cannot understand how any Democrat could even consider signing this bill right now. We are in Massachusetts, and this bill would allow the incoming Trump Administration to target any and every non-profit they so wish. We live in a state that is the home of so many great nonprofits, including some of our greatest institutions of education and research. Nationally, some of the organizations best poised to protect individual rights and liberties, and to prevent people from harm, are also non-profits, espe cially legal nonprofits. I do not understand how 52 Democrats could be backing this toxic bill, and I need to see my state representatives take a big powerful public stance against it. organization. For background, this bill would vest the treasury secretary with unilateral Authority to strip a nonprofit's 501c3 status by designating them a terrorist I'm sure I don't have to spell out what an Administration that is particularly hostile to civil rights groups and climate groups could do with such power. It is astonishing to me that more Democrats don't seem to be aware of the danger here! Please take a stand to protect us and the country. Say no to this bill.
