I write to urge immediate impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. The evidence is clear. His actions threaten our constitutional order. On June 21, 2025, Trump ordered massive airstrikes on Iran without congressional authorization. No imminent threat existed. The Constitution gives Congress alone the power to declare war. Republican Representatives Thomas Massie and Warren Davidson called it unconstitutional. Constitutional scholars across the spectrum agree. Trump weaponized the Justice Department to prosecute his enemies. On September 26, he indicted former FBI Director James Comey on charges that the previous U.S. Attorney refused to bring for lack of merit. Trump forced that attorney out and appointed someone who immediately filed the exact charges her predecessor rejected. Eight federal prosecutors resigned in protest. President Bush’s Chief Ethics Counsel, Richard Painter, now supports impeachment investigations. Federal judges have repeatedly ruled against Trump. Judge James Boasberg ordered the government to halt deportations in March. Trump ignored him and proceeded anyway. The judge found probable cause for criminal contempt. When courts ruled his military deployment to Los Angeles illegal in September, costing taxpayers 120 million dollars, Trump defied those orders, too. He even authorized the arrest of a Wisconsin state judge in her chambers. Trump used regulatory agencies to silence critics. The FCC Chairman threatened ABC affiliates until Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel’s show, which lost five billion dollars in market value. Even Republican Senator Ted Cruz called it dangerous. Trump filed a 15 billion-dollar frivolous lawsuit against the New York Times that a judge dismissed within days as improper. Trump systematically abused the pardon power. He pardoned major donors convicted of fraud who owed hundreds of millions to victims. He pardoned a sheriff who accepted 75,000 dollars in bribes. He pardoned politicians convicted twice for corruption. These pardons eliminated 1.3 billion dollars owed to crime victims. James Madison said pardoning political friends justifies impeachment. Trump sold pardons for cash and loyalty. History will judge what we do now. Thirty-nine federal judges appointed by five presidents have ruled against his constitutional overreach. Harvard scholars call this the most severe attack on the rule of law since the Civil War. The constitutional grounds exist: abuse of power, obstruction of justice, bribery, usurping congressional war powers, and violating the separation of powers. These are not partisan charges. They are documented facts with evidence from courts, resigned prosecutors, and concerned members of both parties. Impeachment exists for precisely this moment. When a president systematically attacks democratic institutions, refuses constitutional limits, and places personal power above the law, the Constitution demands a response.
