Our nation's limited resources should be allocated to uplifting programs that benefit all Americans, not inhumane and costly mass deportation efforts. Spending $86 billion just to initiate and nearly $1 trillion over the next decade to complete roundups of our friends, family, and community members is an unconscionable misuse of funds. This would inevitably lead to human rights violations through the creation of mass detention camps 24 times larger than current facilities. At a time when vital social services are underfunded, diverting taxpayer dollars to this draconian agenda is unacceptable. I urge you to reject any appropriations requests for mass deportation operations and detention camp expansion. Our national priorities and values must lie in supporting our diverse communities, not tearing them apart.
