With all due respect to Senator Durbin, my husband (a farmer) and I (a bookseller) are among the "millions of Americans" who aren't just "worried they wo n't be able to afford healthcare in January," but who KNOW they won't be able to afford healthcare for the foreseeable future if our representatives accept a worthless promise to hold a vote on the ACA tax credits in exchange for reopening the government. We are doing our best to take care of our neighbors who are struggling in the short-term; we need Congress to stay focused on relief for the long-term. Worthless promises won't help anyone. And, unfortunately, we won't be able to help anyone when our healthcare premiums go up to $3511 a month in January. Accepting this situation isn't a win. It's a forfeit.
