We Demand Action Against Unconstitutional Military Deployment in US Cities!

To: Sen. Peters, Rep. Tlaib, Sen. Slotkin

From: A verified voter in Livonia, MI

December 21

I am writing to demand your immediate and forceful action against the blatantly unconstitutional proposals to deploy military forces in American cities. This is not a matter of policy disagreement; it is a direct assault on the fundamental principles of our Constitution and the rule of law. The Constitution explicitly prohibits the use of military forces for domestic law enforcement. The Posse Comitatus Act, rooted in these constitutional principles, unequivocally bars the use of federal troops to enforce civilian laws. President Trump's recent statements at Quantico, suggesting the use of American cities as "training grounds" for troops, is not just misguided—it is illegal. Let me be crystal clear: Any attempt to deploy a National Guard "quick reaction force" nationwide or use military personnel in cities like Chicago and Portland is a gross violation of the Constitution. The Tenth Amendment reserves powers not delegated to the federal government to the states or the people. Using federal forces to override local and state authorities is a direct infringement on states' rights and our federal system. Furthermore, the President's encouragement for soldiers to retaliate against civilians and for federal law enforcement to "do whatever the hell you want to do" is an unconscionable incitement to violate the Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures, as well as due process rights under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments. This is not a partisan issue. It is about defending the very foundation of our republic. The oath you took to defend the Constitution demands that you act now. You must publicly denounce these illegal proposals, introduce or support legislation to reinforce existing laws against domestic military deployment, and use your oversight powers to prevent any executive branch attempts to circumvent constitutional restrictions. The consequences of inaction are severe. Allowing such unconstitutional actions would set a dangerous precedent, eroding the civil liberties that define our nation. We stand at a critical juncture where the integrity of our constitutional democracy is at stake. Your constituents, including myself, demand that you fulfill your sworn duty to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Act now. Our Constitution, our cities, and our citizens cannot afford any delay in the face of this imminent threat to our legal and democratic foundations.
