Release pregnant women from ICE detention NOW.

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Pres. Trump, Rep. Jacobs

From: A constituent in San Diego, CA

October 24, 2025

I am writing to express my outrage over the continued detention and medical neglect of pregnant women in ICE custody. Pregnant immigrants are being subjected to inhumane treatment that directly endangers their lives and the lives of their unborn children, and against ICE policy as well. Let me be clear: shackling women while they miscarry, denying prenatal care, and housing them in unsanitary, traumatizing conditions is not just a policy failure—it is a moral disgrace. These are not isolated incidents. They are systemic, and they are happening under your watch. If you claim to value life, then prove it. Because what’s happening in these detention centers is the opposite of pro-life. It’s cruelty disguised as bureaucracy. It’s indifference wrapped in red tape. And it’s costing lives. I demand that you take immediate action to: • End the detention of pregnant immigrants. • Investigate and hold ICE accountable for medical neglect. • Restore transparency by requiring reporting on the number and condition of pregnant detainees. This is not a partisan issue. It’s a human one. Take action.
