Please introduce or co-sponsor legislation making Articles 1–27 of the ICCPR self-executing and enforceable in U.S. courts.The Senate’s 1992 declaration left the treaty binding internationally but not privately enforceable at home. The UN Human Rights Committee has found that post-Dobbs abortion restrictions can violate ICCPR rights to life, privacy, equality, and freedom from cruel treatment, and it selected abortion access for U.S. follow-up reporting due November 2026.Without implementing legislation, people cannot hold federal or state governments accountable in our own courts for rights the United States already ratified. Pass a bill that creates a private right of action under the ICCPR.Thank you.
