I wish to voice my STRONG opposition to the military operation against Venezuela. While Maduro is no saint and I do believe in holding people accountable for their wrongs, the US acting as a unilateral judge, jury, and kangaroo court in the international affairs of other nations is a gross misuse of US power. Instead of working with other nations and holding Maduro accountable in international courts focused on international laws, you and the President have kidnapped a sitting president of a foreign nation and extradited him (and his spouse) to US soil to face US charges in US court based on US law. If you condone this course of action, you would also theoretically condone another foreign nation such as China forcibly grounding Air Force One in international air space, kidnapping the president, and forcing him to stand trial in a Chinese court based on Chinese law regarding any number of charges (tariffs and trade wars, international conflict over Taiwan, etc.). Taken to another extreme, a government in another state could demand that you—our state representatives—be extradited to their state to stand trial for your own crimes against your citizens or the citizens of their states (by enacting laws that place the healthcare of women in jeopardy).If you don’t support these latter actions, you cannot logically or reasonably support what President Trump has done with Maduro, nor can you support legal proceedings against Maduro under US jurisdiction in this way. Please use your power to lobby the Executive branch to turn Maduro over to an international court system and participate in a peaceful, non-military, internationally cooperative legal process. Stop encouraging reckless US warfare.
