I am writing to express my absolute outrage over Trump’s disgraceful treatment of President Zelenskyy and his continued betrayal of Ukraine. Instead of standing with a sovereign nation fighting for its survival, Trump and J.D. Vance insulted Zelenskyy, threatened to abandon Ukraine, and abruptly ended their meeting—handing Vladimir Putin exactly what he wanted. This is not just a failure of leadership. It is a direct assault on democracy, our allies, and the values the United States once stood for. By cozying up to Putin and turning our backs on Ukraine, we are sending a dangerous message to the world: The United States can no longer be trusted. We are not just abdicating our role as a global leader—we are becoming the enemy. We are becoming the new axis of evil. As a proud Pennsylvanian and an Army veteran who served this nation for 20 years, I did not put my life on the line to see my country turn its back on our allies and become a puppet for dictators. This is an insult to every service member, every public servant, and every American who believes in democracy and freedom. If we abandon Ukraine, we set a precedent that authoritarian regimes can invade sovereign nations without consequence. I am calling on you, as an elected leader of Pennsylvania, to publicly condemn Trump’s actions and reaffirm your commitment to supporting Ukraine. We must stand firm against tyranny, uphold our commitments to NATO, and ensure that history does not remember us as the nation that enabled Putin’s aggression. Silence is complicity. Inaction is betrayal. The people of Pennsylvania are watching, and history will judge those who fail to act.
