Support H.R. 7852 to Ban Congressional Stock Trading

To: Rep. Brecheen, Sen. Lankford, Sen. Mullin

From: A constituent in Quapaw, OK

March 23

I'm asking you to cosponsor H.R. 7852, the No Getting Rich in Congress Act, which would finally end stock trading by Members of Congress. This bill gets it right. It bans you and your colleagues from buying or selling stocks, digital assets, commodities, and derivatives unless they're held in a qualified blind trust. It requires quarterly disclosure of investment activities and imposes real penalties for violations: profits from illegal trades go to the Treasury, plus fines up to three times the investment value. Campaign funds can't be used to pay these penalties. Members of Congress have access to classified briefings and nonpublic information that affects markets. Allowing stock trading creates an obvious conflict of interest and erodes public trust. The bill also prohibits corporate board service and establishes a lifetime lobbying ban for work on behalf of China, Russia, and Iran. H.R. 7852 currently has only five cosponsors. That needs to change. Add your name as a cosponsor and help build momentum to pass this bill. The public deserves to know their representatives are working for them, not managing their portfolios.
