HB 1471 is a THREAT to our democracy. It is the right of the people to influence government policy. It is what I’m doing right now by contacting you, my elected representatives of state government. Removing the rights of citizens jeopardizes our democracy. Without the people’s power to vote, there are no elected officials, there are no public comments or collaboration. There is no guarantee of who will be in office. It may be additional admin work that this bill would dissolve, but that is not to help you. It is to make your positions obsolete. It is meant to strike fear into the public and promote fascism and dictatorship. The White House administration is actively trying to get rid of voting. Removing voting doesn’t mean you keep your seat. This isn’t for you. Protect the people. Protect the right to stand up for what is good. Protect our checks and balances. Protect due process with diligence. Question everything. REJECT HB 1471.
