The recent tweets and social media posts from Senator Mike Lee regarding the tragic shootings targeting lawmakers in Minnesota are truly abhorrent and unacceptable. Mocking such a horrific act of violence that has claimed innocent lives is depraved and shows a callous disregard for human life. Instead of expressing sympathy or calling for unity in the face of such an attack, the Senator chose to make light of the situation with distasteful jokes and unfounded insinuations about the shooter's motives. This kind of behavior from an elected official is reprehensible and unbecoming of the office. Senator Lee's conduct has brought shame upon the Senate and eroded public trust in our government institutions. In the wake of this senseless violence, we need leaders who can rise above partisan divides and bring people together, not those who will exploit tragedy for perceived political gain or spread misinformation. Senator Lee's resignation is warranted to restore dignity and decency to the Senate. His actions have proven him unfit to continue serving the people of Utah and the nation.
