Do Not Fund the Targeting of U.S. Citizens

To: Sen. Duckworth, Sen. Durbin, Rep. Krishnamoorthi

From: A verified voter in Schaumburg, IL

January 28

I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent regarding the removal of language from the DHS funding bill that previously barred the deportation of U.S. citizens. The reported involvement of Stephen Miller in removing this safeguard is alarming and signals a dangerous expansion of government power. I am a U.S.-born citizen and a person of color. This development makes me fear not only for my own safety, but for the safety of my family. The idea that U.S. citizens could be targeted, detained, or deported under DHS authority is a clear infringement on constitutional rights and due process. I urge you to oppose any funding or legislation that enables or normalizes these actions. Congress must not fund activities that undermine the rights and safety of U.S. citizens. I expect my representatives to defend the Constitution and protect their constituents from government overreach.
