Restore and extend Temporary Protected Status for Haitian immigrants. The Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling gave the administration the power to end TPS — it didn't make ending it right. Over 330,000 people who built lives here, paid taxes, and kept this country running are now facing deportation to a country the State Department itself has flagged with a non-travel advisory due to a national state of emergency. The human cost is concrete. An estimated 13,000 Haitian TPS holders work as nursing assistants, caring for 65,000 patients every single day. Ripping them out of the workforce doesn't just destroy their lives — it destabilizes elder care for tens of thousands of Americans. And the administration's suggestion that people simply "seek other legal statuses" is dishonest. There is no direct pathway from TPS to a green card, and asylum approval rates under this administration have collapsed below 5%. Haiti is controlled by gangs. The UN has warned the violence there is ongoing and severe. Sending people back isn't enforcing immigration law — it's sending them into danger. I want you to use every legislative tool available to protect Haitian TPS holders, whether through emergency legislation, appropriations riders, or public pressure on DHS. These are our neighbors, our caregivers, our community. They deserve safety here.
