We don't need more monuments, we need to preserve the ones we already have. I am writing to to oppose the funding and construction of Trump's vanity arch and conduct a full congressional review of the project under the Commemorative Works Act. This monument to one man is unnecessary and an insult to the 400,000 service members laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. It must not be allowed to go forward.
Instead of building that arch, I ask that you push back against Trump's order to shrink Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah. Trump does not have the legal authority to modify these monuments, and Congress must now take action to preserve and protect them from mining, drilling, and destructive corporate greed.
