Defend the institutional power of the Senate
To: Sen. Durbin
From: A constituent in Elmhurst, IL
December 17
I treasure our remarkable Constitution. I place strong reliance and faith that the co-equal branches of government uphold a true balance of power, to protect our nation from the worst impulses of human nature. I implore you to defend the revered institution of the Senate and its co-equal status, and not let it be hollowed out. Once lost, its power will be diffi cult to regain and our society will suffer for decades to come. The Senate must fulfill its duty to vet, and reject ill-suited nominees of the incoming president who threaten the rule of law, the health of our people, the education of our children and the defense of our nation from aggressive and often wily foreign adversaries.
Please use all legal means available to ensure that the Senate holds the Executive branch to the highest standards. FOR THE PEOPLE.
Thank you for your service.
