I am deeply troubled by the disrespectful and combative behavior exhibited by President Trump and Vice President Vance during their meeting with President Zelenskyy. Their accusations of ingratitude and attempts to berate Zelenskyy for seeking continued U.S. support in Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression were appalling. Zelenskyy has led his nation with courage and resolve in the face of an unprovoked invasion, and he deserves our admiration and robust assistance, not insults and condescension. This meeting exposed a shocking lack of empathy and understanding of the immense suffering inflicted on the Ukrainian people by Russia's illegal war. As representatives of the American people, Trump and Vance's conduct was an embarrassment that undermines our nation's credibility as a force for democracy and human rights on the world stage. I urge you to condemn their behavior and reaffirm unwavering U.S. support for Ukraine in its existential struggle for sovereignty and self-determination against Putin's neo-imperial ambitions.
