Government shutdown: stay shuttered until Trump breaks.
To: Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Warnock
From: A constituent in Atlanta, GA
October 30
Hello. I just want to reiterate my support for the government shutdown. I know it’s going to get rough, but let’s be real — any deal made for any reason with this administration - be it healthcare, debt, Israel, or whatever……. they will not honor it. The co-presidents Vogt, and Miller find you, our direct representatives and voices in the administration, superfluous and inconsequential. Miller himself said as much on tv before going McConnell. Do not accept anything less than a firm and clear commitment to abiding by the power of the purse and executing the wishes of the people as proxied by Congress. A vote for any budget, even one that preserves ACA rates, as long as the Presidency continues to exercise pocket recision, impoundment, line item veto, etc. is moot. If the government has to be shut down until Trump leaves office, so be it. If Trump really has all this power he claims, he can use it to fund SNAP benefits, use it to fund whatever he wants. Stay the course firmly and until he breaks regardless of outcome. The only way out is thru.
