I'm asking you to oppose any investigation into the Southern Poverty Law Center and ensure that all charges are dropped immediately. The SPLC has spent decades tracking hate groups, supporting civil rights litigation, and providing critical resources to communities facing extremism. Their work has helped countless Americans defend themselves against discrimination and violence. Investigating an organization that serves the public interest sends a chilling message to other nonprofits doing essential civil rights work. This investigation appears to be politically motivated retaliation against an organization that holds powerful interests accountable. The SPLC's hate group designations and legal advocacy have made them a target, but that's exactly why they need protection, not prosecution. When we allow investigations to be weaponized against civil rights organizations, we undermine the very freedoms they exist to protect. Stand with the SPLC and the communities they serve. Drop these charges and end this investigation.
