Oppose Trump's IRS Lawsuit and Support Impeachment for Abuse of Power

To: Rep. Dingell, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Ann Arbor, MI

February 4

I am writing to express my strong opposition to President Trump's lawsuit against the IRS and to urge you to support impeachment proceedings against him for this abuse of power. The President is now suing the IRS, an agency within his own executive branch, in what appears to be an attempt to extract funds from the federal government for personal or political purposes. This represents an unprecedented and unconstitutional abuse of executive authority. A sitting president using litigation against federal agencies to obtain money constitutes theft from the American people and a clear impeachable offense. This action is particularly outrageous given the recent Republican position that extending the Affordable Care Act was financially impossible due to cost concerns. While my representatives claimed we could not afford healthcare coverage that would benefit millions of Americans, this administration now pursues litigation to extract funds from the federal treasury. This represents a fundamental betrayal of priorities that harms ordinary Americans while the President seeks to enrich himself or advance personal interests at taxpayer expense. The constitutional implications are severe. Using the presidency to sue federal agencies for money meets the threshold for impeachable conduct. This is not about policy disagreement but about protecting taxpayer dollars and preventing the executive branch from looting the federal government. Every dollar the President attempts to extract through this lawsuit is money stolen from programs and services that benefit your constituents. I urge you to publicly condemn this lawsuit, support impeachment proceedings against President Trump, and work to protect federal funds from executive abuse. Your constituents deserve representatives who will stand against theft from the American people regardless of party affiliation. The precedent set by allowing this behavior will fundamentally damage our democratic institutions and fiscal integrity. I request your immediate action on this matter and a response detailing your position on both this lawsuit and impeachment proceedings.
