State & Fed Leaders: Free Mahmoud Khalil Now

To: Sen. Moran, Sen. Erickson, Gov. Kelly, Rep. Helgerson, Rep. Estes, Pres. Trump, Sen. Marshall

From: A constituent in Wichita, KS

May 11

As of today, May 12, 2025, Mahmoud Khalil has been locked in ICE detention for 65 days. He holds a valid green card. He has no criminal charges. His wife is a U.S. citizen. His newborn child—an American citizen—was born on April 21. He has not met his son. This is not border enforcement. This is cruelty and lawlessness, and it must end now. Khalil was arrested without a warrant, in clear violation of Fourth Amendment protections. The government’s claim that his presence poses undefined “foreign policy concerns” is a dangerous abuse of vague legal language—one that attempts to sidestep due process and silence lawful political expression (Washington Post, April 2025). This is not justice. It is retaliation. The Emancipation Proclamation turned 162 this year. The Civil Rights Act turned 61. What do they mean if our government can jail a lawful permanent resident, without charge, for political reasons? I urge you to demand Khalil’s immediate release and restore the rule of law. No family should be torn apart by bureaucratic abuse.
