Oppose Exclusionary Language in Women's History Museum Bill

Vote against the American Women's History Museum bill unless Republicans remove the "biological women" restriction and strip President Trump's control over the project. This museum was supposed to be a bipartisan celebration of women's contributions to our nation, not a political weapon. The provision targeting transgender women will do far more damage than Republicans claim. As the Democratic Women's Caucus letter warns, this language "invites arbitrary enforcement and could be used to challenge the inclusion of any woman or girl a politician deems not 'feminine' enough." Trans women are women, and their stories belong in a museum about American women's history. President Trump, a man found liable for sexual assault who regularly denigrates women, should not control the design and location of a museum about women. His threat to withhold funding unless exhibits about trans women are removed shows exactly why giving him broad authority over this project is dangerous. The hyperpartisan version of this bill kills years of bipartisan work. I expect you to oppose it and demand that Republicans restore the original collaborative approach. American women deserve a museum that tells all our stories, not just the ones that fit one party's ideology.
