I’m incredibly disturbed by the ruling out of Texas regarding protestors being charged as terrorists yesterday. Their charges as being part of ‘antifa’ are as spurious as being charged for being a feminist or Marxist. While the protest did in fact get violent, it was clear from even the judge’s eyes that this case had less to do with terrorism than the prosecution noted. To quote Judge Mark Pittman, a Trump appointed judge, “Whether it’s antifa or the Methodist Women’s Auxiliary of Weatherford, why does it matter?” The fact that this group of people were wearing black, using fireworks, and reading and/or distributing left wing materials has no bearing on this case. Those things all fall under our free speech rights as Americans. We also have the right to assemble and the right to protest. This should be another warning bell for every single person in this country, including congresspeople, that we are in a fascist state and have been since the beginning of Trump’s second term. Not heading to one, in one already. This kind of trial and charges are ones we see in dictatorships. This regime is counting on no one doing anything about this and everything else they are doing - and you’re complicit unless you do something. I want to know what you are going to do about this, how you’re going to get these charges dropped, and how you’re going to prevent this from happening again. Our democracy is compromised. We have no response from Congress who’ve been allowing fascism to take over every aspect of the country, and we the people are out here trying to survive alone. We are going to be a fully autocratic society if the majority of us lose the right to vote with the SAVE Act which means a full dictatorship. What are you doing to do? What side of history are you on?
