I urge you in the strongest terms to reject the upcoming budget reconciliation bill until it is modified regarding the $70 Billion for ICE and Border Patrol. As written, this bill does nothing to rein in agencies that are out of control. The detainee abuses seen at Delaney Hall are simply the ones that are visible today; the problem is systemic across the country. The administration's approach to immigration is the equivalent of sending a swat team to enforce a no parking zone. The American people demand reasonable limits on ICE and BP: unmasking, no military-style weapons, body cameras etc. We demand that detainees be treated as human beings. We demand that non-criminals not be picked up in the first place. What are you doing to correct these problems? You have had months to fix them and done nothing. Start by withholding the funding.
