Pursue collaborative approach for affordable medications, ditch tariffs

To: Sen. Peters, Rep. Moolenaar, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

April 9

Imposing tariffs on pharmaceutical imports would be detrimental to the healthcare sector and consumers. Such a move risks driving up costs and limiting access to vital medications for many Americans. Instead of pursuing protectionist trade policies, we should focus on fostering a competitive domestic pharmaceutical industry through measures that incentivize research, development, and innovation. Rather than isolating ourselves from global markets, we must work collaboratively with international partners to ensure a stable supply chain and fair pricing for life-saving drugs. Tariffs are an ineffective and counterproductive approach that will only harm patients and undermine public health. I urge you to oppose this proposed action and explore alternative solutions that truly benefit all stakeholders.
