Handguns in the mail? Say NO Please vote for, and co-sponsor, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) bill (introduced Friday with Reps. Mike Thompson, Chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force (CA-04), and Jill Tokuda (HI-02)) to block a dangerous new rule proposed by the Trump administration. That new rule would make it legal to use the US mail to ship illegal handguns through the U.S. Postal Service. Do we need this new rule? NO! Listen to Rep Thompson: "Reversing a sensible 99-year-old law against mailing handguns is flat out dangerous...Families, postal workers, and law enforcement want more safety measures in place, not fewer. Instead of focusing on lowering costs or protecting our democracy, Republicans are carrying out the whims of the gun lobby and reversing popular safety measures at the cost of Americans’ lives.” The US is already teaming with handguns and it's shockingly easy to obtain and transport all manner of handguns and even military grade assault weapons. Firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teens (ages 1 to 19) in the United States, surpassing motor vehicle crashes and illness. Over 2,500 children and teens are killed by guns annually. Nonfatal injuries can still be tragic and life-changing: they are twice as common. Mass shootings in 2026 have their own Wikipedia page: it shows a tally equivalent to one or more incident per day for February, March and April 2026. (In fact, because of days with multiple incidents, each month also has a number of days without incident even though the total number is greater than the days per month.) What problem does it solve to make it even easier to move guns across state borders? Oh-- right--Trump wants to reward his private army with his slush fund and make it easier for them to get even more guns for the next assault on the Capitol, which he will direct from his billion-dollar "ballroom" bunker? Trump's new rule is yet another instance of an intolerable agenda of corruption and pro-crime -pro-violence-pro-disease-pro-pollution-protecting-pedophiles-pro-Putin festering flagrant corruption. We need policies that curtail gun violence and access to guns, not policies to make guns easier to obtain and ship. You know it's easier to obtain a gun than to register to vote or vote in some states now? You know that this administration does not want election ballots in the mail, but they're OK with putting handguns in the mail? Please: stop this madness. Congress is supposed to legislate and appropriate. When Trump and his agency heads usurp these functions to help criminals, polluters, and grifters, Congress needs to step in. Please announce your support for Haley Stevens' bill in the house and vote for it in the house and senate.) to block a dangerous new rule proposed by the Trump administration.
