Save the Republic: Establish Independent Congressional Commission for Article 4 of 25th Amendment
I am a voting constituent writing to compel your immediate, unyielding support for Representative Jamie Raskin’s crucial legislation establishing an independent congressional commission under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment. Our national security, democratic stability, and the constitutional rule of law depend on it.
The 25th Amendment explicitly grants Congress the constitutional authority to create an independent, bipartisan body to evaluate whether a sitting president is physically or mentally incapable of executing the duties of the office. Leaving this monumental responsibility solely to a president's handpicked, unelected cabinet creates an inherent conflict of interest that paralyzes our system of checks and balances when we need it most.
We cannot afford to wait for a catastrophic constitutional or national security crisis to expose the vulnerability of our current system. This bill is not a partisan weapon; it is a vital safeguard designed to protect the integrity of the presidency, regardless of who occupies the Oval Office.
As my representative, your highest oath is to defend the Constitution and protect this nation. I urge you to prioritize American stability over political gridlock. Do your duty, co-sponsor Representative Raskin’s bill, and pass this legislation.
