Vote to Impeach President Trump for High Crimes and Misdemeanors

To: Rep. Dingell, Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Ann Arbor, MI

January 25

I am writing to urge you to support impeachment proceedings against President Trump. With only 23 Republicans needed to join Democrats in the House to reach a majority, this is a moment that requires courage and commitment to constitutional principles over party loyalty. Representative Al Green of Texas introduced H. Res. 939 on December 10, 2025, calling for impeachment on grounds of high crimes and misdemeanors. That resolution was tabled by a vote of 237-140, but the case for accountability has only grown stronger. A petition circulated by the non-partisan group Blackout The System has gathered over 98,000 signatures, citing greed, corruption, and a lack of accountability in leadership as grounds for impeachment. Trump's own words at the January 2026 House GOP retreat reveal his awareness of potential wrongdoing. He stated, "You got to win the midterms because if we don't win the midterms, it's just going to be — I mean, they'll find a reason to impeach me. I'll get impeached." This suggests he understands the vulnerability of his position. His ambiguous comments on January 6 about cancelling elections, even while claiming he wasn't calling for such action, demonstrate a troubling pattern of testing authoritarian rhetoric. The political landscape supports this action. RealClearPolling data from over 13 pollsters shows Democrats leading Republicans 46.6% to 42.2% in generic ballot polling for the 2026 midterms scheduled for November 3, 2026. Polymarket prediction markets give Democrats a 78% chance of winning the House. Your constituents are watching, and history will remember who stood up for accountability when it mattered. I urge you to vote in favor of any impeachment resolution that comes before the House. The Constitution provides this remedy precisely for moments like these, when leadership fails to meet the standards required of the office.
