Congress needs to limit Presidential power

To: Sen. Banks, Rep. Messmer, Sen. Young, Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Leavenworth, IN

November 12, 2025

Congress members are elected to make laws that align with the Constitution! It is its responsibility to also make sure the Executive Branch does not overstep its duties and infringes on Congressional authority. Congress needs to uphold its obligations to us as our representatives. Trump has no authority to tax us, but you have allowed it with these illegal tariffs! The President has made the military political, which goes against all reason since the military is to protect the Constitution and not a Trump agenda. It can’t take political sides because it is to protect all citizens no matter of ideological differences. If you allow President Trump to take $230,000,000 for his grievance against a legal search of his private residence, you are not doing your fiscal responsibility. That’s our tax dollars! Congress has appropriated money that the President has no authority to manipulate and not fund agencies Congress mandated. You are being derelict in your jobs for allowing this to happen. The obligation is Congress’s to make sure you and only you carry out your Constitutional responsibilities that were given to you. You hold the “purse”! If you agree with the things that President Trump has done without authority, then you need to find out if we your constituents want those things and the make laws. The Executive Branch should not and does not have the powers you have given him! I expect Congress to do the job, or I will be campaigning against your reelection.
