Stop the transfer of federal wildlife refuge land to SpaceX. The Fish and Wildlife Service's plan to hand over acres within the Lower Rio Grande Valley national wildlife refuge — 103,000 acres of critical habitat along the Texas-Mexico border — to a private corporation preparing to go public is a giveaway that should never happen.
SpaceX has already caused documented ecological damage in this area, including lost beach access and the hazards of exploding rockets near sensitive habitat. The agency's claim that this exchange represents a "net conservation benefit" strains credibility when the company receiving the land is the same one responsible for that harm. The Center for Biological Diversity is right to challenge this in court, and you should be using your office to block it legislatively.
Wildlife refuges exist to protect ecosystems, not to subsidize corporations. I expect you to oppose this land transfer and push for congressional oversight of any deal that converts protected federal land into a private launchpad.
