Protect Special Education Rights in Pennsylvania

To: Sen. Cappelletti, Rep. Briggs, Gov. Shapiro

From: A constituent in Wayne, PA

July 8

Publicly oppose the transfer of special education oversight from the U.S. Department of Education and urge Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation to reject it. The administration claims nothing has changed because local school districts still write IEPs. That misses the point. The issue is who enforces the law, monitors states, investigates violations, issues guidance, and holds school districts accountable. Please commit that Pennsylvania will vigorously enforce the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, provide transparent state oversight, and advocate for preserving federal educational expertise and accountability for students with disabilities.
