Title 10

To: Rep. Thanedar, Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Lincoln Park, MI

October 8

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding recent interpretations of Title 10 of the U.S. Code, particularly those advanced by Stephen Miller, which claim the president holds “plenary authority” to deploy military forces domestically without judicial oversight. This interpretation is not only legally questionable it is profoundly dangerous to the constitutional balance of powers. Title 10 was never intended to grant the executive branch unilateral control over the use of military force within our borders. The notion that a president can override state sovereignty and bypass the judiciary to deploy troops in American cities undermines the very principles of federalism and democratic accountability. As your constituent, I urge you to: Publicly reject any interpretation of Title 10 that allows for unchecked domestic military deployment. Support legislation that reinforces judicial oversight and state consent in matters of federal troop deployment. Demand transparency from the executive branch regarding any use of Title 10 powers. The Constitution was designed to prevent the concentration of power in any one branch of government. Allowing the president to act without constraint in this area sets a dangerous precedent that threatens civil liberties and the rule of law. Please stand firm in defense of our democratic institutions and ensure that Title 10 is not weaponized against the American people.
