I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my concern about recent actions and statements by members of the current administration, specifically those suggesting the possibility of defying judicial orders. In particular, Vice President JD Vance and adviser Elon Musk have suggested that President Trump’s administration may not comply with court rulings, a stance that could undermine the integrity of our legal system.
As an elected official, I urge you to stand up for the rule of law and ensure that the separation of powers remains intact. The idea that any branch of government—especially the executive—could ignore the decisions of the judiciary is deeply troubling and sets a dangerous precedent for our democracy. Without the ability of the courts to enforce their rulings, the checks and balances that safeguard our rights and freedoms would be significantly weakened.
Please use your position to make clear that ignoring or undermining the judiciary is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. The courts play a critical role in maintaining justice and fairness, and we must hold all public officials, including the president, accountable to their decisions.
Finally, I would encourage you to leverage this appeal against your Republican colleagues, who seem to be shamelessly, willfully relinquishing their own responsibilities regarding the power of the purse, neutering their legislative in favor of the executive. Please take the gloves off when dealing with them - do your own party a favor and stop branding them as MAGA; they are Republicans - there is no daylight between MAGA and Republicans. They are clearly all the same. The toxicity of the brand may inspire a few of them to break ranks.
Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your response and actions to safeguard the rule of law.
