I am writing as a constituent to say that I vehemently oppose Trump’s abuse of emergency powers to skirt the law. He did this to send prisoners out of the country. He did this to increase oil drilling for no reason. Now he’s declared that a 60 foot strip of land on three southern states borders are a military installation. Now anyone that happens to be there can be arrested by the military for trespassing or worse. We have a law, the Posse Comitatus Act, which prevents the military from policing civilians. Trump is violating it by turning the military into a forced to be used against US citizens, and he’s using Emergency powers to justify it. IT HAS TO STOP. Congress needs to immediately enact legislation like Rep. Andy Biggs’s HR 125 of the 118th Congress, the Limiting Emergency Powers Act of 2025. This legislation would cancel any presidentially declared emergency in 30 days unless Congress approves it. This is not a perfect solution but at least it’s a start. Rein this would-be dictator-Pope-shop-owner-scary-man-on-a-500-dollar-bill in!!!
