An Open Letter

To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick, Rep. Mackenzie

From: A verified voter in Allentown, PA

October 27

It's not just that ICE needs to be abolished. It's that the United States needs to step up as a nation. We need to unite against such blatant prejudices. We need stronger laws against slavery, human trafficking, and/or forced labor. We need to show gratitude, honor, and respect for cultures, especially Native American cultures. We need to recognize that we failed as a nation when "Jim Crow" laws were permitted. And we need to purge them from our laws now. We have to prove that equality and equity are vital to our government, that they are our very heartbeat, and that we will stop every enemy, foreign or domestic, who dares to tread on this value. People who value prejudice must become the minority and must be outcast. Karl Popper's 1945 Paradox of Tolerance taught us that a truly tolerant society must not tolerate those who promote intolerance. We must amend our Constitution to promise that this level of hatred will never be permitted by our nation again.
